Destined for an Early Grave by Jeaniene Frost

Her deadly dreams leave her in grave danger...
Since half-vampire Cat Crawfield and her undead lover Bones met six years ago, they've fought against the rogue undead, battled a vengeful Master vampire, and pledged their devotion with a blood bond. Now it's time for a vacation. But their hopes for a perfect Paris holiday are dashed when Cat awakes one night in terror. She's having visions of a vampire named Gregor who's more powerful than Bones and has ties to her past that even Cat herself didn't know about.
Gregor believes Cat is his and he won't stop until he has her. As the battle begins between the vamp who haunts her nightmares and the one who holds her heart, only Cat can break Gregor's hold over her. She'll need all the power she can summon in order to bring down the baddest bloodsucker she's ever faced . . . even if getting that power will result in an early grave.

When her romantic get-away with Bones turns sour, Cat discovers through Mencheres that an entire month of her life was wiped from her memory, supposedly to protect her from the vampire currently chasing her. Fighting for her life against a vampire more powerful than Bones, Cat might loose something even more precious in the process.

Frost does it again, Destined for an Early Grave was amazing, intense, breath-taking, heart-breaking and I could keep going, but I think you got the point! I’m in love head over heels with this series and I think this installment put the stakes (pun intended) higher. I came close to tears multiple time reading this book, but chapter 17 killed me, I was literally stunned and I couldn’t believe what I just read, but this wasn’t the only surprise. The plot took twist and turns I never imagined in a thousand years and I was taken by this urgent need to keep on reading and reading until the end came. And geez do I want more? Yes, Please!

Cat & Bones relationship was an insane rollercoaster ride during that book, and thanks to Jeaniene’s fabulous writing, I shared every single feeling along with Cat, I was sad, broken-hearted, stunned, pissed-off and sometimes all of the above at once. Their relationship reached a point of no return in that book and I truly can’t wait to see how both of them are gonna deal with the consequences.

I was really please to see Vlad again in that book, I love the guy so much. He is so mysterious, and even though you know he could literally burn you, you still trust him. He has an insane charisma and I was glad he was there to support Cat. I don’t think Cat would’ve grown has much if it wasn’t for him. I really hope he will get his own spin-off book sometimes, He would be one amazing character to discover.

The end was like the rest of the book aka amazing. So much tension and emotion in so few pages, I got to the last page and my reaction was: “NOOO! It’s already over!”. February can’t get around the corner soon enough if you ask me.

If you haven’t started this series yet, please run to the nearest bookstore and buy the first book. I was hooked from page one and kept on craving for more. Frost build a fantastic world full of danger, passion and adventure. Virgin eyes beware though, this is no young adult novel.

    1. I actually read the first in this series... and enjoyed it. I just haven't had time or gumption to pick up the rest. I'm probably due for a reread at this point. I remember thinking at first that Bones was a bit creepy but eventually he grew on me. I'll have to look into reading this series finally. Thanks for the great review!

    2. I haven't heard of this series until now but I'll definitely have to get hold of the first one now I've read your review.

    3. I never read any vempire books yet because it's not my bread and butter. But, the story is quite interesting and I I'm really glad that you enjoy it. I bought the Twilight series for my girlfriend, and I plan to read 'em soon. Maybe it's a good start for me to explore the world of vempire!! =)

    4. I love this series but I have to say, at this point I'm hoping that the relationship issues (or at least miscommunication between Cat and Bones) are pretty much resolved. I think both characters are equally at fault in perpetuating it, but at this point I'm ready for these two to unite as a team and face some conflicts that don't come from insecurities about their relationship.

    5. I don't think this one is quite my cup of tea, but perhaps I'll read part of the shared bit online and it might change my mind. It sounds interesting, though, as far as vampire books are concerned!

    6. I've had this series on my TBR list FOREVER! I had planned to start it last week, but The Mortal Instruments series took its place. Im definitely going to have to get to it soon! Great review!

    7. My God I want to run right out and get the whole series! You are so passionate about this book. I want to read this one first, but I know that wouldn't be the right way to do it, but I'll read the others until I'm bleary eyed and have a headache. thanks for the new series.

    8. You won't be disapointed Heather!

    9. Oh wow, sounds like a great series! I've never even heard of it before!

    10. I liked reading your review, although I don't know if I'll pick this one up (not really my kind of story, I don't think). But, I like how you wrote about this book! :)

    11. Great review. I'm really looking forward to getting started on this series. I just ordered the first one. Thanks!
